Aeroplane: Time management
At Home In Advent
The following words for reflection are taken and adapted from “At Home In Advent - A domestic journey from Advent to Epiphany” from Gordon Giles (BRF - Bible Reading Fellowship). The entire book is available from Eden.co.uk and would be recommended to get a fuller experience of this time of devotion and meditation.
The purpose of these devotional is to give you something of an everyday object or motion which can focus our thinking through Advent. There are 3 sections:
- Travelling in Advent
- At Home in Advent
- The run up to Christmas
This is a journey…
Aeroplane: Time management
Read: 1 Thessalonians 4:13 - 18
Over these last months we have watched as many airlines have faced difficulties as the number of passengers have dropped through the floor. However, it’s only been the last few decades that has seen air travel come to such frequent regular use. Air travel went from being a luxury to a necessity to an expectation. Journey times were slashed but Arrival/Departure lounges were opened… and so we waited again.
As we journey through Advent we know that every year Christmas comes at the same time, it’s a wait but one with a stated end. We are still waiting for the return of Christ to the place, and this is the long wait. However whether it is known or unknown we need to be ready.
On one hand we can get really excited about the immediacy of Christmas day, so let’s enjoy it; on the other we have the long wait of a returning Saviour… are we as excited to see him or do we need to get something else sorted out before?
Is air travel something you miss? What about waiting in airports…?
How do you manage your time in waiting for Christmas and waiting for Jesus?
Pray for those who still need to use air transport.
